Picture of the day: So much life…

There is so much to say, but I'll keep it silent. Artashat, Armenia, 2006.

Photo by Anahit Hayrapetyan. I happen to know her since 2008, when I was working on an article for National Geographic Traveler Armenia, and she was taking photos from the side. Yet, I’m very much impressed by her professionalism, and the picture above is just great! Couldn’t resist to post it here.

Vivian Maier: A Life Discovered

August 1975, New York City

Piecing together Vivian Maier’s life can easily evoke Churchill’s famous quote about the vast land of Tsars and commissars that lay to the east. A person who fit the stereotypical European sensibilities of an independent liberated woman, accent and all, yet born in New York City. Someone who was intensely guarded and private, Vivian could be counted on to feistily preach her own very liberal worldview to anyone who cared to listen, or didn’t. Decidedly unmaterialistic, Vivian would come to amass a group of storage lockers stuffed to the brim with found items, art books, newspaper clippings, home films, as well as political tchotchkes and knick-knacks.

An Intellectual Fashion by Philip-Lorca diCorcia

Philip-Lorca diCorcia is one of the most respected voices in contemporary American photography. Acclaimed for his painterly touch, his work has been exhibited worldwide in the most prestigious venues, from the Whitney Biennial in 1997 to the Venice Biennale in 2011. He has had numerous solo shows, for instance at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1993 and the Los Angeles County Museum in 2008. Between 1997 and 2008, he collaborated with the editor of W Dennis Freedman on 11 portfolios for the magazine, then published in a book entitled Eleven. He is represented internationally by Sprüth/Magers in London and Berlin and David Zwirner in New York.

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.

So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, do it. Make your mistakes, next year and forever.

Ինչի մասին են խոսում աղջիկները… Դե իհարկե ձեր մասին, ինչի պիտի, փորձում ենք ձեր գործողությունների “տրամաբանությունը” հասկանալ: Բայց այսօր ես որոշեցի գլուխկոտրուկների վերջ տալ, հետևաբար իմ ու իմ ընկերուհիների անունից ձեզ մի քանի հարց եմ ուղղում Առանձնահատուկ հարգանքներս բոլոր այն համարձակներին, ովքեր պատասխաններ տալու ծանրությունը կվերցնեն իրենց ուսերին Գնացինք:)

● Ինչո՞ւ է այդպես, որ հենց խմում եք, մեզ եք հիշում/զանգում: Սա ամենատարածված անտրամաբանականների շարքից է: Զանգում եք, քնահարամ անում, խոսում բոլոր ասված-չասվածների մասին, վերջում էլ, թե մեկ-երկու բաժակ ալկոհոլ եմ օգտագործել: Կարծես ապահովագրեք ինքներդ ձեզ` “յանի” սթափ մտքով չէի, “շուլուխ” եմ արել:

● Ինչո՞ւ է այդպես, որ երբ կարճ բիզնես ուղևորությունից վերադառնում ենք, (կրկնում եմ, կարճ աշխատանքային այց), ասում եք` կերած-խմածդ անուշ, լավ տժժացի՞ր, իսպանացի-բան կպցրե՞լ ես: Անգամ, եթե մեկնել ես Տոգոյի հանրապետության մայրաքաղաք Լոմե, մեկ է հարցնելու են` իսպանացի “կպցրե՞լ ես”:

Bronnie Ware много лет работала в хосписе. Её обязанность — облегчение состояния умирающих пациентов. Она проводила с ними от трех до двенадцати последних недель их жизней. Из своих наблюдений она составила своеобразный рейтинг основных сожалений людей, подошедших к самому краю жизни. Эти сожаления – объективная проверка тех смыслов жизни, ради которых жили эти люди. 1. Я сожалею, что у меня не было смелости, чтобы жить жизнью, правильной именно для меня, а не жизнью, которую ожидали от меня другие.

Это наиболее распространенное сожаление среди людей. Когда люди осознают, что их жизнь почти закончена, они могут оглянуться назад и легко увидеть, какие их мечты остались не реализованными. Большинство людей едва ли пытались исполнить даже половину из их мечтаний и должны были умереть, зная, что это происходило только вследствие выбора, который они сделали или не сделали.
